MAKING SENSE OF THE MADNESS

Ecclesiastes 5:8 (NLT)

Don’t be surprised if you see a poor person being oppressed by the powerful and if justice is being miscarried throughout the land. For every official is under orders from higher up, and matters of justice get lost in red tape and bureaucracy.

The election is over and we are now seeing some seemingly unbelievable, unthinkable things starting to happen.  The president-elect has called for the deportation of any person who is a criminal, i. e. a felon or someone involved in drugs who is also in the country illegally.   What has arisen from this is at first glance, incomprehensible.   As a part of this, the authorities in numerous places, such as Los Angeles, New York City and Chicago have come out and publicly stated that they will not assist in the deportation of anybody.  But this “anybody” means criminals, felons and those involved in the sale of drugs, because THAT IS WHO THE INCOMING ADMINISTRATION IS INTENDING TO DEPORT.  Now this is curious.  Why wouldn’t civil authorities, particularly police department heads NOT want to help get rid of individuals who are doing such harm to their communities?

Now seriously considering this question leads to some very troubling possibilities.  Consider the passage from Ecclesiastes.  These authorities actually have somebody over them, who dictates what they do.  Think about this: they won’t help get rid of these criminals because—they work for them; and the criminals are driven by an even higher force.  Wow!!  This is powerful stuff.

Let’s look at this in the context of what the apostle Paul tells us in Ephesians 6:12

“ For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.”

We are involved in a cosmic battle, a spiritual struggle of titanic proportions that is manifesting in our world.  We are constantly encouraged to pray, to go to GOD and talk to Him about everything, to get to know HIM.  In doing this, we will come to understand what is going on; we will understand His plan, which He has described to us in His Word.  JESUS tells us to remain in His Word, to abide in Him.  Every day the battle involves us in one way or another; we are involved on the macro-level, i.e., politics, economically and also on the micro-level, i.e. our personal relationships and dealings such as with our families, neighbors.   But let’s be reminded, that through it all, GOD wants to go through it with us; He will lead the way.  We are told several times that the last days will be difficult; they will be terrible, and JESUS tells us that this will call for “patient endurance” on the part of the saints.

But here’s the thing—these days will end; AND THERE’S A NEW WORLD COMING!  It will be a world in which righteousness will reign; all wickedness will be wiped out; the entities causing all the trouble will be judged and dealt with.  I know it’s hard to imagine this.  But think about it—what would the world be like without  greed, without out-of- control and never satisfied lusts, without lies, without murder, without all the dirt that covers us and makes our world the dangerous place it is?  Make no mistake, things are coming to a head, events are coming to a conclusion; every individual will become all he or she can be, whether that means entirely good or entirely bad.  THE HARVEST IS RIPENING!  Let’s be patient.  Remember, those in power who seem to be getting away with every kind of evil—AREN’T GETTING AWAY WITH ANYTHING.  They are just moving themselves closer and closer to their destruction.  WATCH, WATCH!
